1.) I have a great idea for a new course. What do I do? Who do I tell?
We are always open to suggestions for new courses. Please contact our program’s office at (207) 897-6406 or email cmichaud@rsu73.com if you would like to propose a new course and maybe even be an instructor.
2.) How do I pay for my classes?
a.) Register online: some courses are available for online registration. For those payments, we accept MasterCard, visa, and American Express.
b.) Register by mail: If you register by mail, you may pay by personal check or money order.
c.) Register by phone: If you register by phone, payment by check, or money order, you will need to reach out to the office by the start of the course.
d.) Register in person: If you register in person at one of our program locations, you may pay by personal check, money order, or cash.
Please make checks payable to RSU 73 Adult Education.
3.) How will I know if a class is full?
a.) If you have mailed in your registration for a class that was already full, you will be contacted and given the option to be placed on the waiting list for that class.
b.) If you register in person, you’ll immediately know the class status.
c.) If you search for classes online, you will know because the web page will say “Course Full” and give you the option to subscribe to the waiting list.
4.) Do I have to live in your program’s town to take adult education classes?
No. We serve people from all over the state of Maine- any resident of Maine can register for any courses at any location.
5.) What about refunds?
If we cancel a class, or if you cannot start a class and notify Spruce Mountain before the first class, you will receive a full refund. If you withdraw prior to the second class, we will refund your tuition, materials, book, and lab fees, but the registration fee and personal expenses are not refundable. No refunds will be made after the second class, with zero exceptions. Refund payments are made by check and mailed to the registration form address. No cash refunds. Allow two to four weeks for processing.
6.) What happens if there is bad weather?
When RSU 73 schools are canceled or dismissed early due to inclement weather, face-to-face adult education classes will also be canceled. If the weather deteriorates during the day, a decision is made by 2:00 pm. Whenever possible, our staff will contact students. Most online classes will continue as scheduled. A message is usually posted on our Facebook page. Instructors will schedule make-up time as needed.
7.) How old do I have to be to enroll in Adult Education?
Unless otherwise noted in the course description, all courses are open to individuals 16 years and older who are not attending elementary, middle, or high school.
